Blogging, scary stuff

There’s a PR company that sells services to take action against bloggers. I can really see that big companies could feel threatened by the blogging phenomena. If I am thinking of buying a new expensive product, I always do a google search to check out what people have to say. You usually have to dig trough the crap to get a picture of how well the product works. This is where I like that there’s a lot of blogs that gets indexed by search engines. You get to read about peoples first hand experiences of products. And it’s not written by some jaded journalist that has his job and selling ad space to think of. But naturally you also get the usual “This thing doesn’t work!” type of comment from technically challenged people. Anyway, today there is a real possibility that a negative article from a popular blog is the first thing that shows up on a web search, and no amount of money spend by the company producing the product helps. I’ll guess they will start lobbying the governments to make it illegal to write about products without the companies expressed permission.

The easy way of publishing information on the net must scare the bejesus out of the big and powerful, I mean, you didn’t even pay for that power! Anyway, I know I have the power to influence two to five people (all relatives) with my blog. Talk about power! Muhahahaha! Boing Boing: For sale: action against bloggers: A PR company is selling services “to take action against bloggers!”
