Xbox 360

September 28th, 2006 Jacken No comments

Micke, Pär and me had a gaming weekend. They dropped over to my place and played all day and night. And it was so fun that I had to get myself an [Xbox 360](http://www.xbox.com/en-US/). Read more…

Mighty Mouse, yeah right

Apple Mighty MouseI got a new Bluetooth [Apple Mighty Mouse](http://www.apple.com/mightymouse) a couple of weeks ago, and let’s face it, Apple can not design a mouse. The Bluetooth reception is good, and so is the battery life, but it has several problems. To get it to right-click is a gamble. Yes, I know you have to lift your finger from the left side, but it still works erratically. And the side buttons is to hard to squeeze to be useful, and it feels really uncomfortable to use.

Xtorrent

xtorrent128.pngI found this great [bittorrent][] client called [Xtorrent][]. And what a lovely application. It’s still in beta, but it works like a charm. This is now my preferred [bittorrent][] client.

So what’s so nice about it? Well, how about being able to do torrent searches inside the app? A very nice interface? Easy handling of downloads? The list goes on and on…

MacBook Pro

September 21st, 2006 Jacken 1 comment

Today I ordered a new [MacBook Pro 17"](http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/). So finally I’m going to get my greedy hands on on an Intel mac. It’s about time to get back to work on [JackenIAX](http://www.jackenhack.com/jackeniax), and this could be a good reason for it.

My first choice was the 15″, but I’m about to set up my stationary machine as my new server, so I need the screen estate.

Ruby on Rails Beginners

September 12th, 2006 Jacken No comments

After reading Agile Web development with Rails, I still didn’t feel I had a grasp on how [Ruby on Rails][rails] worked. It didn’t go into detail on how everything worked made it harder to learn. I don’t feel I was ripped off when buying this book, but I looked for a better one. And I found it. Ruby on Rails: Up and Running is a much better beginners book. Following the examples really helps you get to grips with all the ins and outs of Rails programming. Highly recommended.

Drupal Blog

September 10th, 2006 Jacken No comments

I’m thinking of moving over my blog to a new [Drupal][] site instead. There’s already a module to import [WordPress][] data into [drupal][]. But I really have to try out some rewrite rules so all the old links works. It looks like I’m getting to be a real Drupal fan boy…

I also just started to look at [Markdown][] and [Textile][]. After trying them both out, Markdown won out for me. And as usual [TextMate][] has great support for it, so writing it is a breeze.
