Shit I need to do before I die!

I’ve never set up a list of things I want to do before I’ll be pushing up the daisies, but now somehow It feels appropriate. Need something to hold on to.

I will try to add to this list as I remember stuff I want to do. But here we go:

Going around Nürnburg Ring faster than 8 min 40 sec.
Go to New York with my son Groucho
Travel back to greece for a week or two.
Build an CNC machine
~~Pan for gold~~
Remarry my wife on the continent.
Going to the gym and get firm and unflabby again.
Work as a photographer in a war zone for two months

Who would have thought?

Over a year ago this guy contacted me to get permission to use this picture for an album cover. I sent him a high res copy and told him that he could use the picture but that he had to send me a copy of the album when it was finished. My guess was I would never hear from him again. But to my surprise I got an email from him yesterday asking for my address and if I wanted the album signed by the artist! Things like this makes me believe in the human being again. I just assumed he would forget to send the album, which is what I probably would do.

I have been on vacation at Åland for two weeks. Nice to be able to go out and fish. And Stefan caught a 1.4 kg bass! One big mofo. He used an old angle rod.

Many years ago I had a great record on vinyl. Naturally I lost it, probably when moving. But a couple of years ago I went to see a friend perform at a night club, and after the consert the DJ played my favorite track from that album. So I ran up to him and asked for the name of the group, and he told me. But being drunk I had forgot the name. So intensive Googling ensued. But to no avail, I couldn’t find the band. I felt like Al Bundy singing “Hhh haa huuumm!” to every one that wanted to listen. But today I finally did it. After listing trough some postings on usenet, I came across a band name that sounded familiar. It was the band. Yay!

The song? “I want to help you Ann” by the Lyres.

I punched my wife in the face

Yes, it’s true. I gave my wife a knuckle sandwich.

The last couple of years when my workload get a bit out of hand, and when there’s a lot of stress, I have problem sleeping. And a couple of times when I finally got to sleep, I have dreamt about fighting, and actually punched the wall in my sleep. But this time it was no wall, it was my wife who got a fist on her cheek. She thought it was our daughter who kicked her in the face, so she turned over and try to continue to sleep. So much for my deadly fists of steel.

How do you beg for forgiveness for stuff you do in your sleep? She’s laughing about it, and teasing me. She’s never been punched in the face before, and it’s her husband that gives her the first one. I’m so proud…

Bus action

I had to go into Stockholm today. My car haven’t passed inspection, so I had to take the bus. On my way home I could hear that there was a problem with the bus. You could almost feel that the brakes where still breaking, or something serious with the gearbox. I first thought that I should go tell the driver, but I was in the middle of an audio book, and besides, Isn’t this stuff he should know? Anyway, I knew that the bus wouldn’t make it. And sure enough, the wheel below my chair started to give of a smell of burnt clutch. So I go up to the driver and asked him if he knew that the brakes on the back wheels are locked up? He just looked stupidly at me, so I just went back to my seat. When I passed a couple of nervous looking passengers, they asked me what was wrong. So I told them that I thought that the back brakes has been locked up since we started. But here comes the mistake. I also mentioned that they probably will start to burn in a while. A second after I said that, smoke started to fill the bus. STAMPEDE! Everyone was running for the exits. When I finally got off the bus, all the ladies had to have a post traumatic discussion with the guy who knew what was about to happen. And all I wanted was to listen to Stephen Kings new audiobook. To make the story even more weird, the bus driver took off running! Don’t ask me where. Probably somewhere to start a beautiful new career doing something else.

New Powerbook

So my wonderful wife gave me a new Powerbook G4 15″. And it’s a a nice machine. A lot of people will probably laugh at me when the new Intel Powerbooks will be available in early 2006, but she could only get hold of one now. And I’m not complaining. I’m currently so poor that dogs compulsory take a piss on my leg.

The screen has the same resolution as the last 17″ screen. So now I have to change the font size in Xcode and NetNewsWire to be able to read. And I keep finding new specs on the machine. I had to go into the audio settings and found that the machine now supports 24-bit 96khz audio. There’s also digital I/O.

It’s a joy to do programming when I have some screen real estate. My old 12″ screen was a bit cramped when using Xcode with all the windows. And I have started to play games again. I have gone through Battlefield 1942 again. But now in high resolution. It’s a great game.

I haven’t updated the blog as often as I should, but I’ve been busy. Looking for a job, programming on my new IAX softphone program. But I’m really going to need a good graphics designer to design the icon and the UI. So if someone feels up for it, send me a mail at jacken@jackenhack.com
