Experimenting

December 15th, 2003 · No Comments

The differense between working with film and using a digital camera is huge. When I was young, I really was into photography. The reason I gave up was that film developing got to expensive. When trying to learn how to photograph, the time from taking the picture to getting the result was to long. When the pictures got back from processing, I forgot what technics I used, so the lesson was not learned.
Now that I have a good quality digital camera I think that I will finally get a chance to learn to photograph. The instant feedback, being able to download directly into my powerbook and check the result. The possibility to get a histogram on the camera to check exposure is fantastic. I’m getting my 1gb CF card today, and that makes it possible to take around 160 RAW images until the card is full. Hopefully the camera manufacturer understands that they should not make a propriety RAW file format, but instead agree on a common standard. I feel a bit apprehensive of storing my pictures for future use in a proprietary undocumented format. So Canon, get on the clue train.

This is my latest experiment picture. I don’t have any flashes (yet) so unfortunately I’m working with my old video lamps. I will revise this picture tonight with better results (hopefully)
