Second place

There’s a lot of discussions on the net about Linux overtaking Mac OS as the second largest desktop operating system. This is great. No really. Because it’s not Apple that’s losing customers, it’s Microsoft. And the more people who gets their feet wet using linux, the more potential Mac OS X users there is.

In the late 90s when Apple was in shambles, I started to look around for something else to do than support Macintosh computers. So I found Linux. And I started to use it parallell with Mac OS. And I realized the power of Unix. The stability, the tools the everything. So I started to install servers using linux. Then came Mac OS X. The first versions wasn’t that great. Slow, but it had potential. Today I use Mac OS X for everything on my desktop. But I still run almost all of my servers on Linux. Great stability, and the hardware requirements are insanely low. But if Apple released a cheap G4-G5 machine without built-in screen, who knows?
