When my wife got her new iPod we had an old 5 gig gen1 iPod to spare. So my mother got it. But her old Wallstreet PowerBook didn’t have firewire so I needed to buy a PC Card with firewire. But instead of buying it from a mac dealer, I got a ST Labs card from a PC retailer and paid half price. Did it work? You bet your ass. So now she can listen to her audiobooks with her new pod. I first thought of sneaking in some alternative music, but I think that would be pushing it to far. I’ll have some fun with friends with this one. “So you don’t have an iPod?, well, my 70 year old mother has one…”
Update: I had to reboot every time to get it to recognize the iPod. So maybe this is the price I have to pay for being a cheap bastard…
