The DVD program, PowerDVD that I use for my HTPC has a Dolby Headphones simulated surround sound option. I didn’t get the time to rig my phones to test it out. But later, sitting and surfing I searched on it and found Dolby Labs own page about Dolby Headphones. And as usual when in bed surfing I have my headphones on listening to music. On the page there is a demo that demonstrates how it works, and boy does it work! So see (and listen, so plug in those headphones) for your self here. Try the trailer demo, they are great! And it’s motorsport!

So tomorrow I will rig my X-Can 2 headphone amplifier to my Sennheiser HD600 headphones and really try it out. Living in an apartment building doesn’t give to many opportunities to really flex the muscle of the surround sound system, but with this setup I could watch movies in the middle of the night and still have the marvelous ringing in my ears by the morning.
I’ll keep you posted on how it sounds…
