Delicious Library, not there by a longshot

Delicious Library If there is something that the small software company Delicious Monster have managed to do, is to get the hype going about the new program Delicious Library. It’s a program for organizing your book, dvd, cd and game collection. And it’s beautiful. I downloaded the demo and tried it out. I got the scanning of books working with both a web camera and with a USB bar code scanner. I could not get any of my region 1 (USA) imported DVD films to register. Many of them bought on Amazon.com. I must have tried around twenty before I gave up. The search function does not give any DVD films back, only books or cd’s. There seems to be a bug in the entry field of the ISBN number when searching for DVDs. If you enter the Amazon part number, I could not get it to download cover art, but I could add it manually, because there was cover art at the homepage.

My take on the program? Slow, buggy and very nice looking. Useful? Right now, no, but when they get the bugs out, maybe.

And then we have the price. $40 for a front end for amazon.com? So let’s get this straight, they get kickback for every sale of products on amazon, but they still want $40? Seems a bit steep to me.
