SUV circus

November 27th, 2004 · No Comments

Today I visited a customer who lives in my old neighborhood in Stockholm, called Östermalm. It’s a popular place to live for the super rich. I don’t even know how I managed to live the for so many years. Especially considering my meagre income. The new place where I live is something most people living in Östermalm would call hell on earth. You know, low income immigrants and other annoyances. But I wouldn’t trade today. Well, I would trade, then quickly sell the apartment on the wast black market, and buy a big house anywhere but Östermalm.

I had an hour before my meeting so I just sat in my car watching people going about their business. One observation is that all ladies living there have a big SUV. And not one of them managed to park their beasts. They probably spend a good fifteen minutes trying. You could make a good living helping desperate rich people to park their cars. I just don’t get it. Not one of them has ever been anyplace where their supposed to have use for an off-road vehicle. You can stuff an equal amount of kids and food in a regular station-wagon. But I guess it’s trendy. But the kicker when it comes to SUV’s is when people put low-profile tires on them. So now you can’t use it in the woods, and you can never get good handling with a vehicle with that high center of gravity. The world is full of pillocks.
