My friend Henke had his thirty fifth birthday friday. So a couple of old friends met up and had dinner together. Usually in Sweden, people get paid once a month, on the 25th, so the following weekend is the worst for going out to dinner or drinking. We ended up at a Mongolian restaurant, a [...]

Apple Security update 2005-001 breaks Turck MMCache
January 27th, 2005 · 2 Comments
A while a go I updated my test server with the Apple Security Update 2005-001 and after that my MMCache stopped working. PHP has been updated and that requires a recompilation of MMCache.
Update: You can download a pre-compiled version of Turck MMCache for PHP 4.3.10 here. Copy mmcache.so to the directory /usr/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20020429

iPhoto 5, the library killer
January 26th, 2005 · 1 Comment
I upgraded to iPhoto 5 on two of my machines yesterday and on my stationary machine, all the albums and pictures disappeared. I should have done a backup, but I didn’t. All the pictures are in the iPhoto Library folder naturally, but all the albums and tags are lost. That’s if for me and iPhoto. [...]

Stockholm Syndrome
January 23rd, 2005 · No Comments
The term Stockholm syndrome is used to describe a situation where a hostage starts to agree with the oppressor. It comes from a well known Swedish bank robbery turned hostage situation called Norrmalmstorgsdramat that took place in the 70’s. When the dentist finished drilling my tooth, it looked like a house in Berlin in 1945. My dentist had a mirror mounted in the lamp so I could follow the whole procedure, something I’ve never seen before. She had to drill all the way down to the root of the tooth. Not too comfy. This [...]

FoxBlocker
January 18th, 2005 · 1 Comment
There’s a new product, the FoxBlocker (402) that blocks the the neo-nazi right wing news channel Fox News, from viewing. Does not work here in Sweden, where the channel TV8 is rebroadcasting the crap. But I wouldn’t want to block it anyway. It’s great to stop by that channel sometimes just to get a good [...]

Mac mini, the new cube?
January 18th, 2005 · No Comments
There’s a lot of discussion the similarities of the Mac mini (5251) and the old slow selling mac Cube. One thing that separates them is the price. The cube did cost around $1700, the Mac mini costs $499. But there’s another thing that will make a big difference in sales. I don’t know anyone who [...]

The Office
January 18th, 2005 · 1 Comment
Yesterday I watched the last of two episodes of The Office Christmas Special. I totally loved the first season of that show. It must be one of the best written and played comedy series ever. But I did not like the second series as much. Why? Because I always have problems with laughing at someone [...]
