I have tried to use Skype to talk to my friend Mats in the US for a couple of hours, and it rocks. We tried and compared the sound quality between iChat and Skype and the latter wins hands down. But the best thing with Skype is that the lag time is very short, making it even better than talking on the regular phone. iChat has a much more noticeable lag when talking, making both participants talk at the same time. Tomorrow I will get my Plantronics .Audio45 headset, which will probably make the experience even better. It’s great that there is a windows, linux and mac version.

As soon as Apple releases the next version of iChat AV I’ll compare them again.
