Yesterday I watched the last of two episodes of The Office Christmas Special. I totally loved the first season of that show. It must be one of the best written and played comedy series ever. But I did not like the second series as much. Why? Because I always have problems with laughing at someone who’s lying down. As long as David Brent was a boss at Wernham Hog, it’s funny when he fucks up. But when he’s kicked out of the company and everything’s going down the toilet it’s not funny anymore. It’s just sad. The dynamic you get when a complete moron has power is also funny, and that’s lost when he’s kicked out. Yeah I know, I’m becoming soft. I guess the last episode of the Christmas Special was written for me then.
