Filming

Jacken In Makeup So yesterday I went to the shooting of the video for the band Search & Destroy. Ylva and I arrived there at one o’clock in the afternoon and thought that we would have to do our scenes in an hour or two. But we learned the first lesson in film making, there’s a lot of waiting. Fortunately there was a lot to look at. There’s people running all over with lamps, extras trying to not be in the way, and actors shuffling around. I had my camera with me so at least I had something to do. You can look at the pictures by clicking the picture on the right.

They needed a biker in the film, so I called a friend, Rille and asked him if he would do the roll. And he accepted. I think he liked it. Well, they couldn’t have got a better biker.

One thing that really impressed me was the film crew. Talk about teamwork. It almost looks like mind reading after a while. It was the first time for me to get up close to a 35mm camera as well. What a beast! The tripod alone must have weight at least 100 kg. Knowing that every minute of film costs a fortune didn’t make it easier on the nerves. But the waiting did. You get a lot more comfortable if you’ve been there a while and start to get the rope of things. I would have been a lot worse if I had to do the acting when I arrived. After so many hours it felt like a release to finally get in front of the camera.

Ylva and me was supposed to be a drunk couple arriving late to a seedy club where we would be a bit out of place. When it was time I realized that playing drunk isn’t easy. In fact, it’s incredible hard to do! They only had two days to do the film, so there wasn’t a lot of time for rehearsal, only two quick test runs, but they said that it went well. It’s very hard to get a grip on how it’s going to look, because you don’t know what the camera sees.

I’ll put up the finished video as soon as I get a copy of the finished film.
