More and more you get to read about the poor software industry that looses billions to software pirates. And how the police try to crack down on big rings of software pirates that distributes software all over the world. I’ve been in the computer business since the early 80’s. I’ve met some big software pirates. The biggest common denominator of them? None of them uses the programs they pirate. They collect them to be able to trade for something even more valuable. It’s like an electronic version of trading cards. I’d bet you half of the programs doesn’t even work if you would unpack them and install it. Does this harm the software industry? Hardly.
Piracy? No, it’s collecting
