Microsoft has given some detail on their new game platform, the Xbox 360. One of the significant changes of the Xbox is that Microsoft has chosen the PowerPC processors instead of Intels. The earlier version is basically a Intel Celeron PC with a specially written Windows 2000 kernel. But the interesting thing is that they [...]

Hangover

This weekend I had my annual fishing trip to Ã…land with my friends. This time the cottage was full of people, a total of nine coming along. And what a weekend. We didn’t get much fish, but we had a ball anyway. And all the people got a long perfectly. On saturday they celebrated my [...]

The hiding police

There’s a discussion going on in Sweden right now about street violence. It’s been a noticeable increase the last couple of years, and the last two weeks there been two deaths in Stockholm. I don’t go out as often as I used to, but for me there is one thing that’s very different compared to [...]

Quicktime H.264
May 11th, 2005 · No Comments
So I’ve been using Mac OS X Tiger for a while now. Feature that impresses me the most? Quicktime 7, or more specifically the H.264 codec. This is really going to change stuff. It’s now possible to broadcast better than TV quality programming on the web for anyone with broadband to watch. As soon as [...]

I promised myself that I wouldn’t buy music from Apples music store, because they just gives you 128kbit AAC and not higher quality. But after logging in I just couldn’t resist. So I bought The Hand That Feeds by Nine Inch Nails. Isn’t that ironic?

Ecto, Wordpress and time zones
May 10th, 2005 · No Comments
After writing a post about not being able to post with ecto to my WordPress blog, the author of the program contacted me. Everytime I posted from ecto, the posting would not show up. You could see it when you logged in to WordPress, but it did not show up on the blog. Apparently it’s [...]

Sharpness
May 9th, 2005 · No Comments
After getting a new lens, the Tamron SP AF28-75 F/2.8 and tried it out for a couple of months, I must say that I’m impressed. First I was a bit disappointed with the sharpness at 2.8, but when doing some tests comparing it to my Canon 17-40mm f/4L lens, the Tamron blows the L lens [...]

Bug in Automator
May 9th, 2005 · No Comments
I’ve encountered a bug in Automator in Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger. When using the “filter finder objects” and using the user entry dialog, and then turn off the function to show the dialog, it continues to use the selection from the dialog box and not the one I have chosen in the program code.

Maybe I’m getting old, but I’m starting to really hate the reality shows on TV. The lesson seems to be that winning is worth everything, without concern for your fellow man. Backstabbing and lying, using other people for your own gains. And then you get to read all about them in the papers. I can’t [...]
