I have now ordered two TangBand W3-871S speakers from Germany. I tried the US, Denmark, Sweden but all where sold out. Finally got hold of a guy selling them from Germany. So they should be on there way as we speak!
Time to go and buy some wood for this project. I’m going to build a par of Needles to begin with. Later on I’m going to build the Lancetta speaker with the same element.
I also got me my new toy today. A $60 amplifier like no other. Sonic Impact T-amp.I’m totally blown away by the quality coming out of this little cheap thing. I now drive my very tough to drive speakers NHT VT2. And still it works! And the sound quality is magnificent! I’m getting hooked on this DIY cheap audiophile thingy.
Next on my list (not counting building the speaker cabinet) is to start modding the amplifier for a little better bass and overall sound. I’m thinking of take the electronics out of the old plastic box and put it in an old aluminum LaCie hard disk cabinet.
I’m thinking of doing a small instruction (text/photo) post to show how to and how not to do this buildup. Hopefully I should have a great bedroom stereo for about $200 with the satisfaction that I did most of it myself.
I’ll keep you posted.
