There is this great new application called Tangerine. It takes your iTunes library and analyzes all your songs to determine the BPM of your songs. It can then create playlists using that information. The interface is beautiful and really easy to use. You can also export the BPM info back to iTunes. It’s also very [...]

CoverScout 2.0
June 3rd, 2006 · 1 Comment
I have spent half an hour trying out a new program called CoverScout from Equinux. And I have decided to buy it. It’s a program for handling all the cover art for your iTunes music. It keeps your covers in sync. You can choose to download and apply the artwork automatically if you like. You [...]

Firefox 2 Alfa 3 Bon Echo

After trying the latest pre-release version of Firefox, I’ve switched over completely. It’s amazingly fast! There are some bugs, like problems of making the browser windows active when switching between applications, but I don’t care. It’s so fast that I can put up with that.

JackenIAX and multiple lines
March 19th, 2006 · 3 Comments
I finally have a version of JackenIAX that supports multiple lines. I have added so you can choose to output background music for the calls on hold. There’s a lot of testing, and I also have to rethink the user interface to be able to handle multiple calls. But i think it’s going to be [...]

Apple hates games
February 28th, 2006 · 3 Comments
So Apple released a new Intel Mac Mini today. And they use Intels GMA950 for graphics. How stupid is this? So this machine is a no-go for me. I’m so disappointed.

Looks like it works on Intel Mac
February 26th, 2006 · 1 Comment
I just received a mail from a user of JackenIAX. He’s running a patched version of Mac OS X on a generic PC, and now the program works on his machine. Cool! So now I guess JackenIAX is working on Intel Macs as well. Debugging via proxy (I don’t have an Intel Mac) is not [...]

New features in JackenIAX
February 23rd, 2006 · 1 Comment
I’ve added a couple of new features in JackenIAX.
Added a symbol to indicate when you got new voice messages in your Asterisk server. Rewrote all of the code for the indicator symbols. Nothing you will notice, but I feel good about it. Now the codec selection actually work. Input validation of all preferences.

What five years gives you

I must say that I feel pleased when I see all the hacking going on putting Mac OS X on generic PC hardware. It’s a great way of introducing OS X for PC users, and may even give some converts. So why is Apple hunting the hackers with blowtorches trying to stop them? Sure, it’s [...]

Getting an ATI 9800 for my old G4 Mac
February 21st, 2006 · No Comments
I just upgraded my graphics card in my old G4. But after comparing the prices for an ATI 9800 for a PC, I quickly realized that the Mac version is twice as expensive. So I followed the guide at www.strangedogs.com, and patched a used ATI 9800 pc version. And it works great on my mac. [...]
