I’m a big Apple fanboy, but I will not buy an iPhone

July 3rd, 2008 · No Comments

In Sweden Telia is the selected peddler of the iPhone. With just one provider selling the iPhone there’s no reason to have a good deal on it. So I will not get an iPhone until Apple stops the nonsense of only having one provider. I think Apples strategy is so f…ing stupid. They always manage [...]

Yes, please apple, kill AppleScript

June 4th, 2008 · No Comments

Everytime (well, last night actually) when I need to do something with Applescript I shudder with horror. The syntax is actually something you forget all the time. There must be better alternatives for Apple to use as a scripting language. I agree with this article, but Python or Ruby would be a better alternative I [...]

Ripping vinyl records on a Mac

April 3rd, 2008 · No Comments

After getting my E-MU 0404 USB audio interface I have started to rip my vinyl record collection. I want to retain as much as possible of the amazing sound of vinyl, so I rip everything in 24bit 48khz. Why not use 96khz? Well, my preferred playback device, the Squeezebox only supports 24/48 unfortunately.

Here’s how I do it…

No video on iPod Video

December 6th, 2007 · 1 Comment

I just read an article on why Apple can’t do to video what it did to music. Interesting article, but using the iPod as an example is probably not a good idea. What all there guys seems to forget is that the iPod will never be a popular device to watch video on. And it [...]

To fix this, look inside the /etc/resolver directory, if there is a couple of files called vpn-resolver-#### you have [...]

The hacking community making Apple TV useful

March 27th, 2007 · No Comments

This looks promising. For some reason Apple forgot one of the reasons iPod got successful. The ability to play a commonly used format, mp3. They crippled the Apple TV so that it only plays h264 encoded videos. But now the hacking community are fixing this. And it’s not the first time. I used to have [...]

I’ve been switching over almost all computers at work to new black Macbooks. But there’s a lot of problems with Microsoft Office 2004 crashing all over the place. Powerpoint hangs, sometimes destroy files (this problem isn’t new, had the same problems with the old machines) and generally misbehaves. Word and excel sporadically crashes. Trying to [...]

EyeTV and Pinnacle PCTV

October 22nd, 2006 · 1 Comment

Update: I now got a beta version of the software that partially fixed some of the problems. It still does not seem to work correctly with an other antenna.

I was out shopping yesterday with my family. And sometimes you just have to get some new gear. So I bought a Pinnacle PCTV USB DVB-T receiver. I [...]

Fix for constantly running fan after 10.3.8 update

February 11th, 2005 · 18 Comments

I got fed up with the fan that’s running constantly on my Powerbook 12″ rev b 867mhz after installing the 10.3.8 Update. So here’s how you do it:

Download Update 10.2.8 and use Pacifist to extract /System/Library/ExtensionsAppleADM103x.kext from MacOSXUpdate10.2.8.pkg to the desktop. Do a backup of AppleADM103x.kext from [...]
