I’ve started to use the excellent iPhone app Next to keep track of my expenses. My bank has a utility that automatically tracks every purchase I make, but for me, being a notorious money spender, it’s kind of a therapeutic thing to be forced every time I buy something to actually acknowledge the expense and not just buying without thinking. It’s also a great way of keeping track of what kind of things I spend my money on.
SpyderGallery color calibration for iPad
Trying to display color corrected images on an iPad
A couple of weeks ago i bought the Spyder4Elite so I could color calibrate my Retina MacBook Pro 15“ and my Asus PA246 24” monitor. And the calibration works really well.
There is no way of color calibrate your iPad, because Apple has not given developers the ability to create or change the calibration of the screen. But Datacolor, the makers of the Spyder4 line of calibrators has solved the problem by making an app that connects to your Mac via your network and use the calibrator to calibrate their app called SpyderGallery. This enables you to see calibrated versions of your pictures inside the viewer. But the calibrated data only works in the SpyderGallery app.
Editorial iPad App Writing
Editorial iOS Markdown Text Editor
So I found a new favorite iPad text editor called Editorial. After reading Federico Viticci’s great review of Editorial on macstories.net I bought the app, because the creator Ole Zorn wrote one of my other favorite apps Pythonista. And Editorial is amazing!
Problem with flickering screen on iPad fixed in iOS 4.2 beta 2
I’ve had problems with my new iPad, where the screen would flicker when the brightness was set to a low setting. Very irritating. My first fear was hardware problems but after upgrading to the latest beta version of iOS, 4.2 beta 2 the problem is fixed! Yay! No need to replace my beloved iPad.
**Update**
A bit too fast, the problem remains.
Trying out an iPad and liking it
My first try to write on an iPad and I’m smitten. Hopefully I’ll get one next week.
