Next App for iPhone Expense Tracker

January 20, 2015 by Jack Zimmermann Leave a Comment

Next iphone expense app iconDownload on the AppStoreI’ve started to use the excellent iPhone app Next to keep track of my expenses. My bank has a utility that automatically tracks every purchase I make, but for me, being a notorious money spender, it’s kind of a therapeutic thing to be forced every time I buy something to actually acknowledge the expense and not just buying without thinking. It’s also a great way of keeping track of what kind of things I spend my money on.

Editorial App WordPress Upload images Workflow updated

January 13, 2015 by Jack Zimmermann

I have being going through the code for the Editorial App Workflow for uploading images directly to WordPress Media Library and added some functions. There where several bugs and problems. Should work better now.

— Bug where scaling didn’t work at all (shame!)

— Added full resolution image as alternative

— should work now for blogs that doesn’t automatically make scaled versions of uploaded images, only presented with the option to use full resolution.

Regular readers of this blog knows that I rarely review bad software, trying instead to concentrate on all of the great apps out there. But this review is going to be different.

I’m not a fan of the Freemium way of selling games. I rather buy the game and get all (or almost all) the content and can get on playing without having to constantly pay for obvious things to continue. So I was glad to see that WRC The Game was a paid app. Bad mistake. If it was Freemium, I would have played for five minutes and then happily deleted the game. We are just talking about $1.99, but I’d get pissed if I buy a bad cup of coffee for that price as well.

Download on the AppStoreI love wasting time watching YouTube. There’s always something interesting, funny or informative to find. On my Mac I have extensions to eliminate the annoying ads, And to get the highest quality available, but when watching on my iPhone or iPad I have sit and wait five seconds and then press skip when ads are shown. But not anymore. I found a great YouTube App replacement that plays back videos in the highest possible quality, but also does away with the ads. The app is called Protube. It’s only $2.99 and well worth it. So now I can watch even more crazy videos.
