Nagios Directory Index Forbidden by Options Directive

After installing Nagios on a Raspberry Pi 2 Model B by following these installation instructions, I ran into an irritating problem. When trying to connect, I got the authentication dialog, but after that, I got an access error in my browser.

Directory index forbidden by Options directive: /usr/local/nagios/share

I searched around on Google but couldn’t find a solution. But after a lot of fiddling with Apache2, I found a solution. There’s a problem with the standard installation of the file in /etc/apache2/conf.d/nagios.conf created by make install-webconf

SqueezePlug problem where Squeezelite refuse to start

I installed a Raspberry Pi in my livingroom as a Squeezebox music Server/Player, using a SqueezePlug[1] image. But when I tried to install the Squeezelite player, it refused to start. I tried to uninstall and reinstall, selecting another USB Audio Interface, but the problem persisted. After checking around and doing a some experimenting, I found that I could start Squeezelite manually from the terminal prompt, but if I tried to start it with the init.d or service script, it refused to start. So I started to dig around and experimented with changing the settings for Squeezelite and I found the problem…

Raspberry Pi Car Audio System

My Raspberry Pi Car Audio Player

A lot of people are using the excellent Linux microcomputer Raspberry Pi and install it in their cars. Usually, they use a color screen that is touch sensitive, being able to play back video and music. But I’m only interested in high-quality audio playback, being able to have all my CDs in lossless FLAC format for optimal sound quality. So a 16×2 LCD with some buttons is plenty. I now have a working system (but not yet installed in my car.) here’s a description of how I’ve built it. Most of the installations I’ve seen the use of the audio out from the Raspberry Pi, but it’s only 11-bit and sounds like crap. I want to use an external DAC, and you can get that to work in XBMC, but only menu and music output, not films. There are some HDMI to audio converters, but I’ll instead use a quality USB DAC.

Raspberry Pi Samba Showing Wrong Size Mounted USB Disk

Raspberry pi
After setting up a SMB Samba share on my Raspberry Pi in Squeezeplug, the size of the mounted volume showed the size of the SD-card instead of the USB hard disk. To fix it, I had to change the setup for Samba. Here’s what I did to fix it.

Raspberry Pi Car Computer

Update: You can find my latest update on the progress of my Raspberry Pi Car Audio System here.

I’m working on a Raspberry Pi as a music player in my car. I’m putting all my music on a SSD disk in lossless FLAC. I’ve already got hold of a 2×16 character LCD with six button from Adafruit that only uses two pins for communication with I2C. It’s easy to program and it has four different background colors.
